Song of the Week : Ordinary Day- Vanessa Carlton

Okay, one morning I fell in love with a song :)

It's called "Ordinary Day" by Vanessa Carlton. When I heard the first few notes and words, I was immediately stunned. I shall put the beautiful lyrics.
I haven't been able to relate to a song this much in a while. I love her voice in this song and how she sings the words.

I think this is a song that teenage girls are able to relate. For me it tells about not taking things for granted and seeing the beauty in things. A day can just be an ordinary one, unless you live it to the fullest :)
Then there's just the whole romantic aspect of the song too. It's like she's falling in love with this boy who's taking her into living her life to the fullest. And to everyone's eyes he's just an ordinary boy. She knows that but because she seems to be mesmerized by him.

Just an ordinary boy.
But he was looking to the sky.
And as he asked if I would come along
I started to realize
That everyday he finds
Just what he's looking for,
Like a shooting star he shines.

And she talks to him like she does with any other guy but there's something about him. She feels things around him that she has never felt before. And when she hears him speaks she's saying that it's as if he could heal anything and everything, maybe her own wounds. She also says that he's too good to be true and maybe it's all just a dream. But when she wakes up she realizes that it's real, that he's real, and he takes her to different stages of her life allowing her to really live her life to the fullest.

Vanessa's song has really deep lyrics, we might not know it as how she does but this is what I think :)

Anyways, here are the full lyrics :)

"Ordinary Day"

Just a day,
Just an ordinary day.
Just trying to get by.
Just a boy,
Just an ordinary boy.
But he was looking to the sky.
And as he asked if I would come along
I started to realize
That everyday he finds
Just what he's looking for,
Like a shooting star he shines.

He said take my hand,
Live while you can
Don't you see your dreams lie right in the palm of your hand

And as he spoke, he spoke ordinary words
Although they did not feel
For I felt what I had not felt before
And you'd swear those words could heal.
And as I looked up into those eyes
His vision borrows mine.
And I know he's no stranger,
For I feel I've held him for all of time.

And he said take my hand,
Live while you can
Don't you see your dreams lie right in the palm of your hand
In the palm of your hand.

Please come with me,
See what I see.
Touch the stars for time will not flee.
Time will not flee.
Can you see?

Just a dream, just an ordinary dream.
As I wake in bed
And the boy, that ordinary boy
Or was it all in my head?
Did he asked if I would come along
It all seemed so real.
But as I looked to the door,
I saw that boy standing there with a deal.

And he said take my hand,
Live while you can,
Don't you see all your dreams lie right in the palm of your hand
In the palm of your hand,
In the palm of your hand.

Just a day, just an ordinary day
Just trying to get by.
Just a boy,
Just an ordinary boy.
But he was looking to the sky.

can't live without :)

I love music just as much as books :) It's a part of me, hehe.
Here are some songs which I'm currently loving,

"Use Somebody" - Kings Of Leon

This song has great, great poetry in it, and I can totally relate. For me I think it's about feeling that little bit of loneliness everyday, or wanting to share an experience with someone dear to you. Sometimes when I'm in a crowd, I can feel that loneliness somewhere inside. I love the melody and all, and I never get bored of it.

"Authority Song" - John Cougar Mellencamp.

Haha, I've been listening to this song quite a lot, it's got this whole rebellious edge, I love the lyrics, the guitar and I listen to it in the morning on the way to school, that's like probably the best time for me to listen to this, hahar.

"I Don't Wanna Be" - Gavin DeGraw.

"I don't wanna be anything other than me".

Yeah! I love the message in this song, and the melody is so badass, I love it! haha. It's a personal song for me, it teaches me that I should just be myself around others, and not get 'badly infuenced' by others. And I don't know, when somebody kinda makes me mad, I listen to this to calm myself down, haha. Some people create this image of themselves to be accepted by others. Some people are just so caught up in themselves and look down at others because they feel threatened. I don't tolerate those people, I'll just be wasting my time.

So just be yourself!

"The Wind Blows" - The All American Rejects.

AAR never ceases to impress me with their songs :D I really like this one, in the beginning of the song, it's got this Enya vibe to it that's just great! As soon as I heard that part, I fell in love with the song. The poetry in it is also fantastic, it's as if the song's saying that "you know what, i know you're still worth loving", I dunno that's what it means to me. :)

"Baby Can I Hold You Tonight" - Tracy Chapman

For me, a masterpiece song. I don't know, I never really figured out the meaning for this song but to me, I think it's about making mistakes and wanting that special someone to forgive you. I love the whole calm feel to it, and her voice is just amazing to hear.

"Undiscovered" - James Morrison

Aaaah! I just want this man to sing to me all night long! His voice and this song makes me smile :D

"Stay Beautiful" - Taylor Swift

This is such a cute song, with that little bitter taste that makes the song complete. I've always been able to relate to Taylor's songs, and I was nodding my head to the lyrics the first time I heard it. I think that she's really liking this boy, who's beautiful, inside and out. And every other girl seems to think so too. She describes the things about him that she loves, and even though she knows they won't be together, she wants the all the best for him, and also for him to just stay the way he is, stay beautiful. :)

"If you and I are, a story, that never gets told...
If what you are is, a daydream, I never get to hold..
  At least you'll know..."

Vienna- Billy Joel.

I wanna thank the person who showed me this song, yeah you know who you are. :) I love it so much! It's a song that makes me think. I think that he's trying to tell this kid to enjoy life, and not jumping into things too quickly and rush them. I think that every teenager should listen to this song :) He wants the kid to calm down, take it easy, there's still time to put life in order. Have a listen :)

.. I'll put more songs but I gotta get some rest for tomorrow's road trip to Solo for my uncle's wedding :)
I'll update when I come back :D

Toodleooo!

Tithe, Wings.

How could I have forgotten! I bought another book at this too-cute bookstore in Jakarta. My eyes nearly popped out when I saw this book, I've been wanting to read a Holly Black book and I'm really looking forward on reading this one :D

review from www.simonsays.com;

Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad. Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother's rock band until an ominous attack forces Kaye back to her childhood home. There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms -- a struggle that could very well mean her death.

Actually there was another book, rather similar to Tithe,
"Wings" by Aprilynne Pike.

But, the book was a hardback, and my mom wasn't exactly agreeable with the price, so Tithe was chosen :D teehee.

I'm still (trying) reading City of Ashes in betwixt all the demanding schoolwork and I just can't wait to read more books!
Then again, I won't be at school on Thursday and Friday as I have to go to Solo for my uncle's wedding, and we're gonna be spending 12 hours on a bus. That is just, the perfect time for me to read! I really can't wait and I'm super super happy for my uncle and his fiancee :D.

Okeydokey, gotta go now! Toodles!

quote :D

I love quotes :D I have a collection of them which I look in once in a while to either look for inspiration or when troubles come.

Here's a good one that I found, by the fabulous Maya Angelou.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back.

rollercoaster

Hey hey :) Now I'm reading City of Ashes, and I've only a little of the pages :(
I don't think I'm going to be able to read that much this week, cause I'll be gone with my choir mates at school for the training center. Until Saturday.
I'm really excited for it yet I'll be missing Clary and the gang, teehee.

School was great today, although it was only half-day. I thought I would be cranky since it's the first day of school since the holidays, but I wasn't. I was actually having a good time today :D
And! We're off to a new topic in English class, mythology. :D whoot! This is gonna be a great unit and I'm excited for the things we're gonna do and even the challenges that are going to come. Well, I say Bring It On! Haha :P

Anyhoo, I'm going to finish my English homework and then take a shower, eat and pack for tomorrow. And hopefully I'll still have time to read City of Ashes. *fingers crossed*

Toodleoos!

I LOVED IT!

Whoop! I actually finished the last half of City of Bones yesterday and today school starts! :D

I enjoyed this thrill-ride of a book, the plot was super awesome. During the twists and turns of the story, I felt the rush in my heart as I read. During the first parts of the book I was kinda confused because I couldn't understand some of the places in the story. But as I read on I understood more and it didn't become such a big confusion for me anymore. Personally I've always been into science fiction and fantasy books, I like to escape into a different world from mine, and I do that even when things get hard :).

But I was put off my some stuff, like one bit with the point of view, it changes quite a bit in parts of the book.

Overall I really like the story and also the characters, especially one of them, Jace. He reminds me of some boys in my life, they can be really arrogant and infuriating but they have that sensitive side in them. The book also have some funny elements which I laughed out loud to, and my mom looked at me like I was crazy, haha.

Anyways, I highly recommend this book, I'm gonna start the next book, City of Ashes. I'm super excited to see what's gonna happen next. :)

...and I need, to get City of Glass :)

"Fix You" by Coldplay.
